This book examines some traditional Shona believes and practices that compromise HIV/AIDS prevention programmes in Zimbabwe. The authors made clear how the Shona tradition exposes married women to HIV infection and how it promotes male domination. Male risk behaviors have been condoned at the expense of women who bear the brand. Though the Government of Zimbabwe has made effort in addressing the HIV pandemic, traditional practices continue to complicate all efforts as men still indulge in risk behaviors. Über den Autor
Petronella D Motsi holds a BSoc Sci (Social Work)from UWI (Jamaica) & Master of Social Work Degree from the University of Zimbabwe. Currently she is a Social Work educator at the same institution. She has worked extensively in humanitarian assistance programmes and in the area of HIV/AIDS with women in Zimbabwe, Afghanistan and Serra Leone.
