Reflections on the Folklife Festival

An Ethnography of Participant Experience

Buch

This first ethnographic study of a folklife festival focuses on festivalparticipants -- the dancers, musicians, storytellers, and artisans at a publicdisplay of folk culture. These essays investigate the contention by supporters ofthese events that this form of folkloric representation is as intellectuallylegitimate as scholarly research.
