Daniel Clark, born in Ireland and a schoolboy at Eton, came to New Orleans in 1786, to join his uncle of the same name. He was prominent in the city, became an American citizen, and in 1806, was elected a delegate to Congress. Shortly afterward he broke with Wilkinson, with whom he had been intimate, and in this book gives much evidence of the General's treachery. Clark strives to prove that Wilkinson was a pensioner of Spain from 1794 to 1803; and an accomplice of Aaron Burr in treasonably plotting a separation of the states.
