On Economizing the Theory of A-Bar Dependencies
A first part responses to the minimalist question of how perfect language is by comparing a few languages and showing that the apparent imperfection actually comes from the diversity of their lexicons. Then address how syntax interacts with semantics in a minimalist way, presenting evidence from definiteness effects that suggests the necessity of adopting a dynamic view of syntax-semantics mapping, envisioned as cyclic and derivational.
