Gerard Chaliand is professor, Ecole Nationale d'Administration (ENA), Paris, professor, College Interarmee de Defense, Paris, and former director of the European Center for the Study of Conflicts, Paris. He is a world-renowned specialist of conflicts, strategic problems, guerrillas, and terrorism.
