PETE ALCOCK is Professor of Social Policy and Administration and Director of the ESRC Third Sector Research Centre at the University of Birmingham, UK. He is the author of Social Policy in Britain 3e (2008) and Understanding Poverty 3e (2006) and co-editor of The Student's Companion to Social Policy 3e (2008), and The Blackwell Dictionary of Social Policy (2002). He is past chair of the Social Policy Association and of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Social Policy.GARY CRAIG is Professor of Social Justice, Head of the Centre for Research in Social Inclusion and Social Justice, and Associate Director of the Wilberforce Institute for the study of Slavery and Emancipation, at the University of Hull, UK. He is co-author/editor of Community Empowerment, Social Justice and Public Policy and Community Work in Theory and Practice. He is past Secretary of the Social Policy Association.
