Heat Transfer Principles and Applications
Heat Transfer Principles and Applications is a welcome change from more encyclopedic volumes exploring heat transfer. This shorter text fully explains the fundamentals of heat transfer, including heat conduction, convection, radiation and heat exchangers. The fundamentals are then applied to a variety of engineering examples, including topics of special and current interest like solar collectors, cooling of electronic equipment, and energy conservation in buildings. The text covers both analytical and numerical solutions to heat transfer problems and makes considerable use of Excel and MATLAB® in the solutions. Each chapter has several exampl…

Über den Autor
Charles H. Forsberg is Professor Emeritus of Engineering at Hofstra University; Hempstead, NY. His educational background is in mechanical engineering: BSME from Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn; MSME and PhD from Columbia University. At Hofstra, he taught lecture and laboratory courses in heat transfer to junior/senior students for 35 years. He also taught other courses in the thermal/fluids/energy area and MATLAB. Besides teaching, he was very active in program, course, and laboratory development. He has considerable experience with ABET accreditation, being the mechanical engineering coordinator for several accreditation visits. Prior to Hofstra, Dr. Forsberg worked on design and licensing of nuclear power plants with Con Edison and Ebasco Services of New York and Project Management Corporation of Chicago. He also has considerable experience in the energy conservation area. He was founder and first director of Hofstra's Energy Analysis and Diagnostic Center and has performed numerous energy audits of industrial and commercial facilities. When not involved in academic pursuits, Dr. Forsberg enjoys cruises, long car drives, woodworking, and being the substitute organist at his church.
