Effect of Bacopa Monniera Plant extract for Alzheimer's Treatment

This book deals with the effect of methanol extract of Bacopa monniera on Alzheimer's Disease Induced Mice Model. Bacopa monniera methanol extract has been used to assess its neuroprotective activity on some selected physiological and biochemical parameters in different brain regions of mice. All the experiments were carried out in normal and various categories of experimental mice as described in detail in materials and method section. The entire research has been represented in four chapters preceded by introduction, materials and methods, and succeeded by summary and conclusion followed by bibliography. The first chapter deals with the morphometric and behavioural changes; second and third chapter presents the alterations in the Cholinergic system & Aminergic system respectively, final fourth chapter examines the changes in the enzymes connected with energy metabolism viz. ATPases system. The results of various parameters revealed, that the methanol extract of Bacopa monniera has suppressed all the AD effects induced by D-Galactose and NaNO2 thus restored the normal functions of the brain and Bacopa monniera extract may be used as a potent medication for Alzheimer's disease.
