Remi Clignet is professor emeritus of sociology at the University of Maryland. He is the author of Many Wives, Many Powers: Authority and Power in Polygynous Families, The Structure of Artistic Revolutions, Liberty and Equality in the Educational Process: A Comparative Sociology of Education, and Social Area Analysis of Douala and Yaounde. Jens Beckert is Director at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies, Cologne, Germany. He is the author or editor of numerous books including Inherited Wealth, Beyond the Market, and International Encyclopedia of Economic Sociology.
