Bruno De Meulder is a professor of Urbanism and directs the postgraduate programs in Human Settlements and Urbanism & Strategic Planning at the University of Leuven. Since his doctoral research on colonial urbanism in Congo, he divides his attention between postcolonial contexts and European developments, analysis and design research, and history and critical analysis of contemporary urban development practices. He has authored several books, including Vacant City (2000) and Kuvuande Mbote (2000), and regularly publishes in journals and magazines. He is co-editor with Kelly Shannon of the book series UFO: Explorations in Urbanismpublished with Park Books (Zurich). Kelly Shannon is a professor of Architecture and director of the graduate program in Landscape Architecture at the University of Southern California. She has taught at the University of Colorado, University of Leuven, Harvard's Graduate School of Design, Peking University, and The Oslo School of Architecture and. Her research is at the intersection of analysis, mapping, new cartographies, and design. Most of her work focuses on the evolving relation of landscape, infrastructure, and urbanization in Asia. A particular interested of hers is the development of landscape urbanism strategies that work with water and topography. She is co-editor of the book series UFO: Explorations in Urbanism published with Park Books (Zurich), and in 2010, she co-authored The Contemporary Landscape of Infrastructure (NAi Rotterdam). From 2010-2015, she was editor of the Journal of Landscape Architecture.
