Connective tissue alterations in oral mucosa lesions
An overview
Connective tissue permits almost every part of the body, providing intimate support for blood vessels and nerves of all sizes. It is also the usual arena for the process of inflammation, which commonly occurs when some part of body is invaded by pathogenic micro-organisms. One of the most obvious roles is to hold together and nourish the other tissues of the body. It is able to carry out these functions because it produces relatively abundant amounts of intercellular substances.
