This thesis explores the connection between gravity and thermodynamics and provides a unification scheme that opens up new directions of exploration. Further elaborating on the Hawking effect and the possibility of singularity avoidance, the author not only discusses the information loss paradox at a broader level but also provides a possible solution to it. As the final frontier, it describes some novel effects arising from the microscopic structure of spacetime. Über den Autor
Throughout school, college and university Sumanta Chakraborty has won numerous prizes and scholarships, including the most prestigious fellowships in India (the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Fellowship, the Satyendra Nath Bose Memorial Prize, the KVPY fellowship and the INSPIRE fellowship). He has also received the INFN fellowship from Italian National Institute of Nuclear Physics. Further, his essay has received honorable mention in 2016 gravity essay competition.During his research career, he has published thirty five research papers in refereed international journals. Besides, he has written a chapter in the book Gravity and the Quantum, published by Springer. Currently he is a National Post Doctoral Fellow working at IACS, Kolkata, India.
