The present study aims: 1) To evaluate the biotic relationships between common birds and growing plants in the different habitat types in Damietta coastal area, the major habitat types recognized in the study area can be divided into aquatic and terrestrial habitats. 2) To develop data base about birds (resident & migratory) and plants in the study area. The data base will be useful for credible management measures. This survey indicated that 66 species of birds were censused, The recorded species were belonged to 12 orders and 28 families where the number of Plant species recorded were 107 species, belonging to 49 families, of these 52 were annuals and 58 were perennials. The present study indicates that the Damietta coastal area is a main passage and visiting area for many migratory birds from Europe and Asia to Africa.

Über den Autor
Prof. Serag completed his PhD in Ecology from Mansoura-Lund Universities Channel System 1989. Currently working as professor of Ecology at Damietta University. He published more than 108 research papers in national and international journals and 10 e books. He is interested in plant diversity and management of natural resources.
