Bioethanol from xylose: an ecofriendly approach
Bioethanol is made from biomass and as the biomass grows it consumes as much carbon dioxide as it forms during the combustion, which makes the net contribution to the greenhouse effect zero. Asia is the largest potential producer of bioethanol from crop residues and wasted crops. Yeast isolates were retrieved from different ecological niches for bioethanol production from xylose and dextrose. The best isolate was found to conform well with the characteristic properties of Candida.
