This catalogue makes available to scholars more than 600 complete or fragmentary stone vessels from the Ancient Near East in the rich collections of the British Museum. In common with much other material in the British Museum, many of the pieces were acquired in the nineteenth century, often from excavations, and have therefore an added importance.
