Illegal physical development is an urbanization problem, so to discover the reasons behind the uncontrolled and illegal development; social, economic and political determinants such as industrialization, migration and urbanization processes should be analyzed. Dr. Ali Kemal Çinar is a lecturer at the Department of Architecture, Izmir Gediz University, Turkey. He received his PhD degree from Department of City and Regional Planning, Izmir Institute of Technology (IYTE), Turkey in 2009. His research interests are city planning, spatial analysis, planning support systems and GIS.
