Free Space Optics (FSO) is an optical communication technology that uses light propagating in free space to transmit data between two points. FSO communications use lasers to transmit and receive communication signals via line-of-sight directed laser beams. FSO systems do not require cables or fibers connected between transmitters and receivers. Optical transmissions provide a wider bandwidth than other wireless communications mediums such as RF frequency signals.
