Advances in Dental Caries
Dental caries is the most common infectious multifactorial disease, resulting from the interaction between the host, diet, and the microflora on the tooth surface over a given period of time, resulting in localized dissolution and destruction of the calcified tissue. This process can be interfered with by the presence of an effective immune response. Various preventive measures have been implicated for the prevention of dental caries. However, recently the spectrum of prevention for dental caries has been shifted to immunological approach i.e. vaccination.
