In recent years, the areas dedicated to pineapple cultivation in Cuba have expanded significantly, making this crop an important source of foreign exchange for the country. The need to introduce the MD-2 pineapple variety in Cuban plantations requires high seed production in the shortest time possible, which can be achieved with the efficient use of micropropagation techniques, which have advantages over traditional methods of vegetative propagation.
