Susan Hayes
3D Facial Approximation Lab Manual
Buch
Facial approximation is the scientific approach developed to replace the largely invalidated methods of 'forensic facial reconstruction'. This Lab Manual has formed the basis of forensic science and visual art courses at universities and colleges around the world, and is designed so that anyone, be they students, teachers, professionals or the general public, can directly experience the fascinating interdisciplinary field of estimating a face from the skull. But be warned - by actively learning about the anatomical and anthropological science underpinning a facial approximation, you will never look at a human face in quite the same way again.

Über den Autor
Dr Susan Hayes is a researcher specializing in estimating facial appearance from the skull. Her applied research and academic publications span the archaeological, palaeontological and forensic sciences, with the results frequently attracting international media attention. Most notably her work has included the first scientific face for 'Hobbit' (Homo floresiensis), estimating the face of a woman who lived in Thailand 13,600 years ago, an early farmer from Argentina, the Teouma Lapita people, the first Maori to colonise southern New Zealand, and Australia's notorious forensic case involving the unidentified remains of the 'Belanglo Angel'.
